Gimmick

A few years ago, I came across Gimmick, a powerful novel by Dutch author Joost Zwagerman. The book tells the story of a group of young artists trying to find their way in a harsh neoliberal world, searching for meaning, caught between beauty and cynicism, between ideals and survival. Raw, sharp, and yet filled with humor an a broken kind of romance that lingered. Gimmick is my response, a musical reflection born from the spirit of Zwagerman’s timeless novel.
